About Us
We have always been fascinated by bison! In the spring of 2025, we had the opportunity to purchase our first herd of bison. We started with 9 bred cows and one big bull, Melvin. Raising bison allows us to market a healthier, locally raised meat source to our community. Unlike beef cattle, bison are unique to North America, specifically the United States and Canada. By responsibly raising bison, we aid in the regeneration and restoration of the bison population, which was almost extinct coming into the 20th century.
Our goal is to positively contribute to the regeneration of bison; provide our community with healthier meat options (bison!); and instill the importance of local, small-scale agriculture and business in our children.
Fun facts about bison:
• They are not just fluffy cows; bison are still a wild, undomesticated animal
• Bison are raised without hormones
• Their natural grazing patterns, wallowing, and movement through a pasture help restore, maintain, and support their surrounding ecosystem.
• Bison meat is a high in protein and low in fat. It is rich with iron, omega 3, omega 6, and vitamin B
• They are 100% born, raised, and processed in the US and Canada
