About Us
Wild Rose Farm is a certified organic family farm located in Owego, New York. Scott and Stephanie purchased the former dairy farm in 1997, to pursue their dream of a small farm lifestyle. Their two sons, Alex and Ian, have grown up on the farm, and are now active partners in the endeavor. We raise certified organic chicken, lamb, turkey, eggs, and produce.
Practices
As a certified organic farm, we do not spray or use any chemicals in any of our practices, nor do we use any GMO products. All animal feed is either raised by us, or purchased locally from Engelbert Farms in Nichols. Our sheep have their lambs in the springtime when the grass is lush, and have free access to pasture and the outdoors year-round. The lambs are processed at a USDA facility that is also certified organic. Our meat chickens and turkeys are raised in bottomless pens where they have plenty of space, sunshine, and grass. These pens are moved twice daily throughout the growing season, which is during the summer months only so that they have plenty of grass to supplement their diet. We process them right here on the farm, so we can be assured of a quality end product. Our laying hens are housed in a movable coop that is open to the ground and surrounded by electric net fencing to keep predators out, Their space is moved weekly to fresh grass, to insure clean living conditions. Our produce is never sprayed or fertilized with chemical fertilizers: we use compost to increase the fertility of the garden. Our goal is to raise only the highest quality products for our customers and for ourselves.
